can't create layers in Visio 2021

I'm using Acrobat Pro 2017.  I've upgraded Visio from 2010 (32 bit) to 2021 (64 bit).  I am unable to install Acrobat as a COM Add-in with Visio 2021, and therefore cannot create layered PDFs. (I was able to do so with Visio 2010 and Acrobat Pro 2017.)  Any suggested solutions / work-arounds?

Try installing the 32-bit version of Visio. I believe your version of Acrobat is only 32-bit under Windows. For plugins to work, they have to be the same.

Another option is to upgrade to Acrobat Pro DC if it's available in your area:

Thank you, David.  Through trial and error I learned that I had to first uninstall Office 64-bit then install Office 32-bit, then install Visio 32-bit, and now all Office apps, including Visio 2021, work properly with Acrobat Pro 2017.  My sincere appreciation for your guidance.

Well, yes...

But you didn't ask about Office 64-bit in your post, or I would have mentioned it for the entire Office suite.

At some point, when you install a newer version of Acrobat Pro that is 64-bit, you should be able to go back to the 64-bit Office.

I think i didn't word my reply very well.  Your initial post most definitely pointed me in the right direction; I just had to work through the 64/32 process (another learning experience).  It all works great now, and I am extremely grateful to have Acrobat 2017 working with Visio 2021 and able to generate layered pdfs... I would not have figured that out without your initial guideance, so thanks again!  And when I eventually upgrade to Acrobat Pro 64-bit, I will plan to subsequently update my Office apps to 64-bit.  thank you again, David.
