Can't delete field

I am creating a form with fields and when I click on the field I get this second blue/grey field appearing and I want to delete it.

Any thoughts?

It looks like the field highlighting is turned on.  Edit > Preferences > Forms > Show border hover color for fields.

In the field properties, bottom left corner of the General tab, there is a check box called "Locked".  Is it checked?  Uncheck it.

Actually when I roll over the field I see this pop-up - does that help? Where is the general menu? I don't see one

How did you create this field?  I thought you were talking about form fields.

All of the other fields I created look like this and I can add or delete them - this one is locked - I can'y seem to remove it.

This is a bug in some versions of Acrobat/Reader. Make sure you update the application to the latest version and restart your computer afterwards.

You can delete the form field in the form edit mode
