Can't edit PDF file

New Here ,
May 08, 2025 May 08, 2025

So, I am working through an estate resolution and got a pdf from a financial institution.  I opened it in Acrobat Reader on a PC and was able to fili in the form and check the boxes.  I brought the file back home weith me and need to make some changes but it doesn't work on either my Win 10 or win 11 PCs with Acrobat Reader???  I can't edit the text lines or make the check boxes.  Is there a solution for this?  And, no, I am not getting a subscription to full Acrobat for this one-time use.

Hi @raylo_4705

Thank you for reaching out.
Adobe Reader is a freeware application that doesn't have the capability to create a PDF. However, it can use "Fill and Sign" to fill out a form and sign it, and it can comment on and review a PDF.

You may visit this Reader FAQ page: https://adobe.ly/3SsBOa6 to get more information.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

Did you perhaps sign the file at any point? If not, it should still be editable in Reader, just like it was before.

Make sure you're not opening it in any other applications, though.
