Can't open Acrobat DC in Creative Cloud desktop app

Community Beginner ,

Acrobat DC is listed as an installed app in the Creative Cloud desktop app, but instead of having an "Open" button displayed, there is just "Up to date" displayed in it's place, and the application will not open. And pointing to the "gear" icon displays "Uninstall unavailable". This laptop is running Win 8.1. All my CC apps operate properly on my desktop Win 7 PC, but not this laptop. In desperation I'm running a trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, but I'd prefer to be using the CC app I'm paying for with my subscription. Any suggestions?

Once again, thanks for trying to help. Had to call Adobe and spend a couple of hours on the help line. Problem was two fold: 1) My Webroot security CCleaner software were set such that CC desktop updates were being blocked. 2) numerous files, folders and registry keys remained from older Acrobat installation and were not removed by the Acrobat cleaner tool; they had to be found and delete manually. What a pain! Anyway, I'm now back up and running.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I followed your instructions, but the acrobat.exe file does not exist. I have done a system restore and my situation has changed a bit in that Acrobat DC is now shown in the Update section of the desktop utility with a highlighted "Update" button. However, when selected, I get an error message stating that the app can't be updated until the previous version is uninstalled. And, selecting "Uninstall" from the gear icon does not alter the situation; same problem exists. So I downloaded ran the the CC Cleaner Tool, but again nothing changes (except I had to reinstall the CC Desktop utility). I've also downloaded the Acrobat Reader DC Cleaner tool, but it states that is is only for standalone versions of the DC app. So, do you have any other suggestions? Appreciate any help.

I have not run the Acrobat Cleaner tool as it explicitly states it is only for stand alone versions. Should I run it anyway?

As for the MS FixIT tool, I have run it, but the Acrobat DC program was not listed. It then asks for the 38 character product ID which I don't think I have for an Adobe CC app (do I?). What else can you suggest?
