Can't open pdf files after I opened some files

Hi Community!

We have a curious error here.

The employees are using Acrobat Standard for editing pdf files.

Everyday after working with 20 or 30 or 40 files (they open it, edit it, save it and close it), Acrobat stops opening new files.

After the users delete the following registry key, it works again.

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat

Does anyone know something about this and how we can solve this?

Thanks a lot!

First of all, you should NOT be deleting registry keys just like that. It can cause more issues than solve them.

Are they trying to open that many files at the same time? I think there's a limit of 50 simultaneous files that Acrobat can show at any given moment. Is there an error message of some kind when they try to open those files?

Hi!

They don't open them simultaneous. They open, edit, save and close a file. Sometimes they have 3 or a little bit more files open. However, after an unspecified number of operations Acrobat stops open files.

In the first try we made the following workaround:

Open the pdf files with Edge. Also with an unspecified number of tries. An afterthat we could open it again with Acrobat. But this was not as "realiable" as the workaround to delete the registrykey. When we tried this with workaround with Edge, after an unspecified number of operations, the problem occurs again. The workaround with the deleting of the registry key holds at last the whole day.

And no, there is no message, no textbox or something. It just stops working.

By the way. The users there arw working on a Windows Server 2019 machine. On any other platform, we don't have this problem.
