Can't see or create bookmarks - internal error

Hi - 

I'm pulling my hair out.   Yesterday, I was able to create bookmarks.   Today, I'm getting an internal error.   I can't create any bookmarks, and eventually I get the error message (attached).   I've tried repairing, rebooting, checking for updates, etc.

When I'm looking at the document, I can see the panel with the page thumbnails (attached).   When I click on the icon for bookmarks, there is no title or heading, and no bookmarks either (attached).

It looks like the file is corrupted. Do you know how it was created?

I scanned it via ScanSnap.   At some point, I did an OCR scan.   The odd thing is that I have about 10 similar files.   Only the first one or two have been OCR scanned.   The bookmark issue happens on every file I open.

Can you creat bookmarks with a PDF made from another tool? I'd sugges you try workng wih a PDF that did not come from ScanSnap to see if it's the naure of the PDF that is having problems with bookmarks raher than Acrobat.
