Cannot combine JPEG files into one PDF

Community Beginner ,
Feb 15, 2022 Feb 15, 2022

Hello,

I cannot combine JPEG files into one PDF. It does combine PDFs without any problem.

It also does not convert them to PDFs if I select multiple JPEGs and hit the convert PDFs. It gives the error - the files are either not supported or corrupted.

I am using the latest version Acrobat DC (21.011.20039) (32 bit). I am using Windows 10 (64-bit).

I tried repair installation. It did not work.

I also did uninstall and reinstall it. When I launced the reinstall, in my first try, it did combine the JPEGs interestingly, but then it started giving errors in my second try.

I have another laptop which also has the acrobat installed (up-to-date). I opened it and tried it - it did not work there either..

Both computers are new, up-to-date and virus scanned. Combining JPEG feature used to work but anymore. Could be related to the recent update?

Appreciate any feedback to resolve this issue.

Thanks

Can you describe the technique of combining you are trying?  It may help troubleshoot.

My best,

Dave

I choose the files in a folder and right click and select combine files in PDF. I have been doing this way for the last 5 years.

Interesting - I have the same version installed, but can perform the combine command you described without a problem.  Is the problem persistent, and with all image files?

I just tried opening a JPEG with acrobat. It could not open it. It gave the error " ..could not open because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged. "

I checked the preference under edit, and I can see that the JPEG is listed in the list under Converting to PDF..

I tried with many different files. Again, I have been using this feature almost 4-5 years. I uninstalled and reinstalled it again (this is my second time doing uninstall/reinstall today). Again, after reinstall, in my first try, it was able to combine the JPEG files. I closed the app and attempted to combine JPEGs as a test again, it gave me the error in my second attempt. If it can do the combine function for JPEGs in my first attempt after the reinstall and fails in the second attempt, it means it is probably running some .exe files in the background that prevents it to do the combine feature for JPEGs in the second attempt. I was able to see multiple acrobat.exe files running in the Task manager when I hit the combine function. This issue is same when using another computer. It could also be some sort of incompability with the recent updates of Adobe and Windows 10.

Hi there...I have also always been able to export jpgs from indesign and combine as a pdf in Acrobat and now since updating...I can no longer create pdfs compressed with jpgs! Very frustrating as my Catalogues I create are monthly and I use this method to compress pdfs for web uploads or clients review.

All my apps have been glitching and beta not working.. Im very upset with Adobe. All these fancy new things and nothing is running as it use to.
