Good morning everyone,

I have a PDF file on my computer (Windows 11) that I cannot delete. I can move it around on my desktop, but dragging it into the recycle bin won't work, right clicking then pressing delete won't work. I heard using force delete (shift+delete) would work, but it didn't. I tried booting up the computer in safe mode, then tried deleting it in all the previous ways, and that didn't work either. I was hoping someone would be able to assist me with this. Thank you!

Hi Matt,

Thank you for reaching out.

As mentioned above, you cannot remove a PDF from your computer. Do you get any error messages when trying to delete the file? Did you try opening that PDF?

If yes, does that open in the application? Did you download this file or receive it via a source like an email, etc.?

Would you mind sharing a small video of your steps to remove the file?

If the issue occurs only in deleting the file, it is more of a machine-related issue, not Adobe-related.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Did you download this file or receive it via a source like an email, etc.?

Would you mind sharing a small video of your steps to remove the file?

I don't know how to create or share video.

Hi Matt,

It appears that you cannot delete a PDF file from your computer. I want to know whether the file is opened or not? If the file is opened in your computer then you can't delete the file.

Can you move the file from one folder to the other?

Below is the file name in question.  Using the CMD feature, navigating to username/ desktop;  I'm able to target the file for deletion using ' mysmart*.* '  The system finds the file, shows the entire file name in the response, but still gives me the error "The system cannot find the file specified."
