I'm not sure if I have the right forum for this but I just upgraded to Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) and now I can't print to pdf in Microsoft Edge. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any assistance greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Sean

Edge and IE 11 both open and display all pages of the manuals. The file can be saved by right clicking in Edge and Save As.. in IE 11. The issue seems to be with printing to pdf. For me it is when I am trying to print from Adobe Flash.

Same problem here. Cant print to pdf in Edge. Only selectable option is Adobe Print to PDF and it hangs up. Should I have Microsoft to PDF as an option in the drop down print menu?

I have same problem - I cannot print to a pdf file using Microsoft Edge but yes it does work if I then press ... on the top menu bar - select 'Open in Internet Explorer' and then print.
Adobe - we would really appreciate a fix to avoid time consuming opening of new windows etc.
Thank you in anticipation!!

I was just about to contact microsoft itself re: this problem...sounds that they don't know the fix yet either. Sad.

I just upgraded to DC pro because I thought it was a problem with my old Pro X. Crap, wasted my money. I work through my computer and have to download files and print to pdf, that's why I pay for Pro. This is unacceptable.

Yes, I am experiencing the exact problem,
Here is one temporary fix:
On the webpage, in the bar at the top of the page, click the upper right corner three dots "..."
Select PRINT
This opens the print window.
From list of printers (top of window) select the printer MICROSOFT PRINT TO PDF
This creates a PDF and should automatically save it in the DOCUMENTS folder, but your system may save it elsewhere. It does not give you a chance to select the folder within which you wish to save. Pay attention because you will receive a comments box telling you where the PDF file is saved. Locate the file and rename it according to your choice. The action does not give you the option to select the folder to save, nor to provide a name.

Not much of a fix, even temporary. I'll stick with my own solution until Adobe decides to get a fix for this issue. I'll continue to use IE as my default browser. No issues printing to PDF from there. I'm just surprised that it's taking this long for Adobe to address the situation.

Don't make assumptions that it is necessarily a bug in Adobe code or that Adobe can fix this.

Can we make the assumption that Adobe and Microsoft are working together to resolve the issue? Even the "Microsoft Print to PDF" printer function in Edge is iffy. Hopefully, a fix is forthcoming as it's to both Adobe's and Microsoft's benefit that these platforms are compatible. Pity the poor guy above that upgraded Acrobat for $$$$'s to gain compatibility.

I just used print to pdf in Edge, it seemed to work ok. Is there an example page we can all look at, that fails for you, so we can try it?

Sure. I just opened up the leading news story in MSN.com at this link:
I then went to Edge's print function, and selected "Microsoft Print to PDF" as the printer, and it placed a file of the same name in my Documents directory as a .PDF. The document, however was empty (0 Bytes in size) and returned a 'document can't be found' when I tried to open it with Acrobat.
When I select Adobe PDF as the printer, then it begins to create a document, and then hangs in Acrobat. Nothing's changed.

This is a Distiller report after a second attempt to print a web page from Microsoft Edge to the Adobe PDF printer. The first attempt stalled out in the Creating Adobe PDF pop-up.

Hey Sean Heffernan: Your post read: “I can't print to pdf in Microsoft Edge. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any assistance greatly appreciated.”
You didn’t ask whether you should go back to using IE 11. I assisted you by giving you a workable, albeit cumbersome, fix for Microsoft Edge as you requested. You may be dismissive about it, and proclaim that your fix is to go back to using IE 11, but that is not what you requested. Also, if people try to help you on this forum, try being grateful for the help instead of being curtly dismissive.

I wasn't being curtly dismissive but I'm not here to debate that. I'm asking Adobe for a fix, as others have here in this thread. Your solution, though it works just fine, thanks, does not address the issue with the Adobe PDF printer. I am having no issues printing to Adobe PDF from IE11. My problem is with Adobe PDF printer not working with Edge. I didn't invest the hundreds of dollars Acrobat Pro cost me to have to use MICROSOFT PRINT TO PDF. I guess I should have been clearer about which PDF printer I was using but I thought that obvious since I posted to Adobe's forum. I apologize for not being clearer in my original post. I hope I've cleared it up for you here. Your solution is a viable one for sure (not cumbersome at all) and if Adobe doesn't do something to address the issue of their Adobe printer not working in Edge, I will uninstall Acrobat and use your solution going forward. However, my issue still stands without a fix, i.e., Adobe making their Adobe PDF printer work with Microsoft Edge.

I, being an old fart, have used Microsoft for decades. Before Windows, we had to type commands. For some reason, Microsoft decided to take us back to the old days. In order to print a pdf file from the Edge browser, you have to type the print command. When you see your printable page, press and hold the <ctrl> key and type p. That <ctrl> p is an ancient print command from Microsoft. It should work from any browser. It worked for me!!

I tend to disagree with Snoman on this. I believe the problem may lie with both Edge and IE 11. After upgrading to Windows 10 I have been unable to download a complete pdf document that is displayed with Adobe Flash Player. While trying to use Edge I had initial success but subsequent failures. The following error would come up: "Flash Modern Browser Print - Print" and "We couldn't reach this printer." I changed over to IE and tried to print to pdf; however, only the first page of a 3+-page pdf document displayed with Adobe Flash on the webpage would come through. This is true for Acrobat, Microsoft PDF Printer, or Nuance PDF. It could very well be that my Dell Vostro 3700 (untested for Windows 10 by Dell) is not compatible with Windows 10. Microsoft did determine that Windows 10 would work on my computer, so I went with it and kept my fingers crossed. However, when I switched to Firefox everything worked perfectly. That had never been the case with this particular website (CCLI: SongSelect). Perfect "print to pdf" with Firefox and Windows 11.

Pressing p allows you to print a pdf while using Edge. But, the
biggest problem I have with Edge is the back button. It only allows you to
go back one site at a time and to me that is disgraceful. I'm back to
using IE. If I hear that Microsoft has all the bugs fixed in Edge, I might
try it again.

Say what????
First, I think you mean <CTRL>P. Yes, Edge indicates that it has printed a file to your Documents folder. When you open the file however, it is blank. Try this: open Edge, and while on your home page, press <CTRL>P, and select Microsoft PDF printer, then "print". Win10 will indicate that the document was printed. Go to your Documents folder, select the .pdf file just created, and you will see a blank page open in Acrobat, or perhaps Reader. All that happens is that it creates a file name, but no content.
There is a basic conflict between Edge's and Adobe's functionality. Please reply to this post if you find otherwise..

Yes, p is typed, you can print it from there.
I hate Edge for other reasons, the main one being the horrible back button
that only lets you go back one website at a time. I am now using IE again
because it does everything I want a browser to do. Edge is third
class.............

Hi, Edge seems to have a great many issues. I'm also having issues with the print to pdf function, though I'm able to print a web page. However my printed documents when I open them up in adobe reader (latest installation which I reinstalled just incase), no longer have links that can be followed and when I use the highlighter function it appears to be adding spacing above the link I actually want to highlight so I end up highlighting text that I don't want to highlight.
I used to use cute pdf for printing pdf's off the web. I can still use this in chrome, however these can no function in reader for highlighting.
I'm also frustrated that this sort of functionality was not worked out in the many months before release by Microsoft. I'm an online student so to be able to print lectures I need this functionality.
