Hi

I installed the latest version of Acrobat Pro and noticed while attempting to set a current bookmark to a new destination that the feature disappeared from the menu when I right click on the bookmark.

Any idea where this feature went to in the new layout?

Thank you in advance for your time and expertise

Hi @brainstewn

Thanks for reaching out.

The right-click option to "Set destination" for Bookmarks is still there as it hasn't been removed or changed in the new UI.  Since it is unavailable in the screenshot shared by you. Please check the following-

1- Open a different file and check in that

2- The document is currently opened, is it secured? Please check its properties and see if you have the editing enabled.

File>Get info> Document properties. An information window opens for the item> Security Document Restriction Summary

Thanks,

Akanchha

AkanchhaS,

I have struggled with the problem described by brainstewn on a sporadic basis for months (if not longer).   I will frequently enounter arbitrary behavior where "Set Destinaton" will appear as a right-click option for one bookmark, but, then, not be available for another - even in the same document.  Here are screenshots showin what I'm referring to:

Hello,

I have the same issue in Windows.  I'm combining multiple PDF files into one and rely on the file name for each PDF becoming a bookmark link.  I've noticed lately for some reason, there are different bookmark icons, similar to the screenshot by LocalGov.  The regular ones will have the option top "Set Destination" but the other that loks like a bookmark with a tree does not give you the option when right clicked.  I'm not sure why this other type of bookmark is being generated or what it means.

Is there a link or explanation on what the difference is and why the other bookmark type is being created in the first place?

Here it is October 2024 and I'm having the same problem--in the same document, some bookmarks have the "set destination" option and some don't. I've checked the settings under File > Properties > Security, and it says no security, everything "allowed." This user-support model stinks. Adobe should have a real customer support department of professionals, not just us amateurs grasping at straws. A year and a half and no answer, no fix from Adobe. If this were a free product I'd understand, but we are paying for this and it's subpar.

Hi @Michel Phillips @Michael36533510muyj,

@Michel Phillips@Michael36533510muyj

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!

From the screenshot and what I tried and observed, the bookmark tree icon signifies the different books that have been combined.

If you expand the bookmark tree and go to the bookmarks that are available on the actual book, you will be able to use the "Set Destination" feature.

Let me know if this is not what you see.
