Cannot select range of comments with Shift-click.

Is there still a way to select a range of contiguous comments?

Used to be I could select a comment, scroll down the comments pane, shift-select a comment, and all the comments in between would be selected so that I could apply the same status to all of them at once. Ctrl+click still selects individual comments and keeps them selected, but one misclick and that can get wiped out. Plus, it doesn't save that much time when I want to select 30 or more comments at the same time.

Hi linsims,

I am sorry for the delay in response.

Could you please let me know if you are still experiencing the issue?

If yes, you might try checking update for Reader and see if that resolves the issue, launch Acrobat>click Help>select Check for Updates.

Also, try with another pdf files and see if the issue still persists.

Thank You,

Shivam

Someone else had a similar issue not long ago, and I spent some time trying to get it to function as expected.  In this person's case, they had their comments list filtered to show just rejected comments.  In this state, the shift-click refused to work.  I came up with an unconventional method that allowed the shift-click to select the full range of comments.  Perhaps it will work in your scenario as well.

  • Filter your comments to show only the desired set. (if desired)
  • Click in the Search Comments box at the top of the Commenting Panel.
  • Type in something... anything!
  • Click the X at the right of the search box to clear away your typing.
  • Click on the 1st comment in the list.
  • Shift-click the last comment in your filtered list.

For whatever reason, it works.  I hope this works for you as well.

My best,

Dave

I just got back to checking this question out. You're right, I had my list filtered to show comments that had no status. If the comments aren't filtered, the shift+click works as expected.

I'll keep your workaround in mind, but it won't help when I'm filtering by status.

Thanks for the response. I was going nuts trying to figure that out.
