Cannot sign and save a a read-only copy of the file

Hi,

I'm running Acrobat Pro, Mac 2022.003.20310 (but this has been happening for the past year with earlier versions too).

To reproduce:

  • Click "Fill & Sign"
  • "Sign yourself" and add signature.
  • Click "Next" and "Save as read-only copy"
  • Message briefly appears at the bottom: "Creating a read-only copy of the file"
  • Error message appears: "An error occurred while uploading. Please try again."

Things I've tried, with no luck:

  • I'm not trying to upload anywhere, just save locally from/to ~/Downloads.
  • I've tried turning off Enhanced security settings and adding my ~/Downloads folder as a Privileged Location.
  • I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled, including using AppCleaner to completely remove any old settings that might be lurking.

Any thoughts?

Hi manishie,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.

We did try to replicate the behavior, and it works fine on our end.

Could you please confirm if this happens with every PDF you try to save as a read-only copy?

Try to repair the application and check. In Acrobat, go to Help > Repair installation.

If the issue still occurs, would you mind sharing the screen recording of the complete workflow?

Share the Acrobat and OS version numbers on the machine.

Let us know if you need any help.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Yes it happens with every PDF that I try.  I've uninstalled completely (including using AppCleaner, which completely removes all references), and reinstalled.  No luck.  I don't see "Help | Repair Installation" on my Mac.
