Hi there
Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.
Please check the Adobe Approved trust list members here https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/approved-trust-list1.html and see if that helps.
Also, please go through the page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/trusted-identities.html and check.
Hope this information will help

Thanks but not helpful.
My official govenment issued certificate is issued by the Fabrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre (equivalent to the US Mint and the entity that issues the Euro) and is the only certificate accepted on official Spanish Government documents but I don't see it on the approved trust list. However, I don't think that's the problem. When I try to add the certificate from the HD on my mac using preferences>signatures>Identities the file name appears but not in black and doesn't allow to click on it. It doesn't recognise .cer files as digital ID files but that's the format this certificate is issued as.
Previously, in another version and with my older laptop I was able to use the certificate and sign.
Any suggestions?

You need to install the certificate on your computer, and then it should be picked up automatically by the application. I don't know how that is done on a Mac, but I'm sure the FNMT has instructions. Once installed it will appear in the Digital ID and Trusted Certificate Settings window and you'll be able use it when signing a file.

Thanks but it's already installed and it shows on the keychain and is picked up by other applications. My Acrobat on a iMac doesn't see .cer files as digital ID files for some unknown reasons. Are you sure it should? Thanks

I know for a fact it works in Windows:

Hi there
Have you started experiencing this issue after the recent update of Acrobat?
What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22.1.20142 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Hi @Miguel220380532t22 ,
If you want to validate a file (build trust) via certificates issued from this certificate you need to add the certificates to the trusted list. There are ways to achieve that
1. Go to Preferences -> Signatures -> Identities and trusted certificates -> Trusted Certificate -> Import ".cer" file and now open the signed file and your signature would be valid.
2. You can also add the certificate to the trusted root via opening the file. Go to Signature field, Right-click to go to signature properties –> Show signers certificate -> Add the certificate to the trusted list
The second problem is if you want Digitally Sign with that certificate. In that case, you need a ".p12" to digitally sign.
Thanks

Dear Absethi
I have the same problem as Miguel.
I have a FNMT (fabrica nacional de moneda y timbre) spanish digital certificate (*.p12) and I have instaled it in my windows (it shows when you go to the Chrome or Explorer security - Certificates), but when I try to use it in a pdf file, it says there is no certificate and I shoul create a new one.
I have readed a lot of info, and I already tryed all the references to the Preferences (Signatures, etc.)
The most werid thing is that I have another certificate (from my husband) that is also instaled the same way and his works....
In my office work, we are trying to go digital, so I have instaled almost 20 certificates in different computers, and ALL have the same problem (in PC, laptops, from work and personal ones)...
Please help !!!

We are sorry to hear that and the delay in response.
Would you mind sharing the version of Acrobat DC and the OS you are using? To check the version goto Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22.3.20258 or 22.3.20623 (Win optional update) and reboot the computer once and check.
Also, a small video recording of the steps you are doing and the issue you are experiencing would be very helpful.
You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

Amal

Hello Amal, Sorry for the delay in this answer... I was recording the steps.
First of all, yes we have the latest Adobe Reader Version 22.3.20623 (you will see it in the video attached),
you will also see the Windows version.
Then you will see how we download the Digital Certificate from the Goberment FNMT (Fabrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre) that is the official digital certificate.
Thereafter you will se how we install it in the computer, and you will notice it is well instaled, since you can see it in the Chrome configuration as installed....
And finally you will see the error that it appears when we open a pdf and try to digitally sing it,
Adobe does not find the certificate.
We try to force it, creating a new signature but it doesn't work.
Please let me know your comments after watching the video:

Thank you for sharing the video recording.
Couple of things:
1. We see that you have Acrobat version 22.3.20258, a new version of the application 22.3.20282 (Win) is now available. Please update the application from the Help Menu > Check for Updates and reboot the computer once.
You may also download the patch manually from the link https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html
2. Please try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Windows and try using the application there and check.
3. If the issue still occurs, please collect the Adobe CC logs https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html , Procmon logs (Win Only) https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/acromonitor.html , and share them via document cloud link https://helpx.adobe.com/document-cloud/help/sharing-pdfs.html

Hello Amal, Irene,
Having the same issue. Windows 10 Reader 2022.03.20258. The certificate and root certificates are ok, but there is no option to select the FNMT certificate as valid to sign.
The problem appear with a new certificate (from November 2022), but in the same PC I've an older certificate (october 2020) that is operational (discarding PC issues).

Buenas tardes
