Changing margins

Feb 28, 2017 Feb 28, 2017

How do I change the side margins on an existing document in Adobe Acrobat Standard 9, please?  Page 1 has standard margins while the other pages have narrow.  I would like to make page 1 have narrow margins, also.

Thank you!

PDF is a final form file format. Editability is fairly restricted. There are tools for changing page size and scaling in Acrobat Pro, but reformatting to have different margins while maintaining text size and page size is not something readily done in PDF in any version of Acrobat.

Go back to your original document and change the layout there and then recreate the PDF.

I am having trouble with changing margins in Acrobat Adobe Pro XI using Windows 10.  I believe you are talking about a different program (Adobe 9) altogether.  I have struggled so much with this program.  I love it, but have not had time to learn enough to barely get by in it.  It is a very complicated program.  Almost all the "Help"  uses terms that are not explained, nor are you even told where to find the the first command to lead you to the steps being given.  I have looked-up over a dozen problems, and not gotten any help.  If where to go to start Step 1 is not given, you cannot complete the advise given

Too often, exporting pdf's to Word or Excel leaves me with a formatting nightmare.

I often convert email receipts and other web-pages using Acrobat Adobe Pro XI in order to delete out a lot of ink-consuming ads, letterheads, and other unwanted junk.  But it is a nightmare trying to get rid of things on the PDF.  Most of the time, I have to move one small box at a time.  Dragging a line around several boxes may move more than one box sometimes, but not all of them.  Nor can I find a way to just insert an extra line at the top of the page.  Sometimes I move a box, and part of it is hidden or disappears.  I thought the value of AA Pro XI was to be able to edit pdf's.

Does anyone know how to change the margins on a document made-up of image boxes, text boxes, etc.?

Does anyone know how to move the entire document down to make room for 1-2 rows across the top?

Does anyone know where you can find tutorials on Acrobat Adobe Pro XI written for Dummies?

You’re using obsolete software. Editing was completely rewritten and done differently in the current version. I’m not convinced it’s better but be very careful in trying to follow tutorials that it they are written for your old software.

But bear in mind Dov’s comment. PDF is not made for this and we’d expect this sort of detailed editing to be a nightmare.

Thank you so much for your information.  Working with Pro XI has been so frustrating, I don't imagine I will be trying to upgrade or buy more of it.  Pro XI really does not do what it claimed at the time I purchased it.
