Checkbox with multiple options

How do I create a checkbox that

if clicked once, shows "ticked",

if clicked twice, shows "crossed",

if clicked three times, shows      (or similar)

if clicked four times, shows blank

I have tried all sorts of things but this is my first time using Acrobat

It's not possible with a check-box, but it is possible with a button field.

I am trying to accomplish the same thing: a checkbox with multiple options. 

I there a work around I can use with a button instead of a checkbox? the link no longer works in the answer.
