I am looking for a way where I have a master PDF and it has a few PDFs under the attachments section.  How can I compline all of these attachments to the master PDF so it is a single PDF?

Use combine files with the master file.

It will work when the file is a portfolio.

I'm not sure about the exactl workflow for getting the Acrobat Combine files to use file attachments. If you open the attachment and then select Add Open PDFs on Combine Files, the attachment does not appear for selection. So not sure if this works. @Bernd Alheit Can you be more specific about how this works?

However, I do know that it is possible to write a script that opens all the attachement and copies pages into the parent file.

You need to open all attachments first.

Each will open on its oen separate tab.

When you use the combine tool method as suggested by Berndt Alheit, you'll get an option that says combine from opened files.

This will get all these files combined together in addition to the master PDF document.

The combine files tools will commit to an irreversible file selection. If you only want to combine the file attachments into one PDF, close the tab where the master PDF is opened, then use the combine files tool.

The sequence of ateps offered by this wizard is very straight forward, intuitive, and visually easy to understand.

That said, you will also get an option to delete the source files once they're merged into one PDF, or keep them.

Thanks @ls_rbls and @Bernd Alheit for the suggestion.  I did the instructions as listed, but it did not work for me.  It only showed the original PDF, not any of the attachments, here is what I did:

  1. Opened the PDF

  2. Opened each attachement, so they appear as in their own tab

  3. Clicked on Tools and choose Combine

  4. Clicked on Add Open Files.  It only lists the origial PDF not any of the open attachments.

Try by clicking on HELP--->> "Repair Installation", or better yet by installing the new update.  What you're describing shouldn't happen.

After you're done with the repair or applying the new update try this combine open files method again.

Thank you for the information.  I am using it on a Mac, so I don't have those options and I did check to see if I'm on the latest version (2020.013.20074).  The only other alternative would be to uninstall and reinstall, however, I don't have high hopes on that.
