Is there a way to prevent Acrobat from dumbing down PDF FILES exported for high Rez printing when combining files into a single PDF?

Point 4 of the first chapter talks about setting the file size/compression/print quality.
I am not sure why you are combining PDFs, have you tried Portfolios instead?
