Combining signed files as a portfolio error

I have individual pdf files signed digitally by a Topaz signature pad, and when i try to combine them as a portfolio, i get the following error message: The file *---* is protected, and cannot be combined because the correct password has not been entered.

The file does not have a password. If I continue to combine, it will combine the files that do not have signatures, the after those are combined, i have to choose "add files", and then I go choose the signed files and it will add them just fine without any errors.  What is the problem?

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Adobe Acorbat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 21.11.20039 installed. Go to help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the signed PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

A small video recording of the steps and the error message would be very helpful.

Also please share the PDF file in question so that we can try to reproduce the issue and check it at our end https://helpx.adobe.com/document-cloud/help/sharing-pdfs.html

Hi there

Thanks for sharing the video recording of the issue. Combining the signed PDF is not recomended as it may damage the dogital signature in the file. It is therefore suggested to create the PDF portfolio of such files.

While you go to ToolS > Combine File > Click OK Options and Select 'Save as PDF Portfolio' > Click OK and see if that works for you.
