I am having a problem comparing two versions of a file. Getting an error message which reads "Acrobat could not Compare the Documents Completely."
I uninstalled and re-installed Adobe Acrobat Pro and got same results.
Windows 10 Pro.
Adobe Acrobat Pro is version 23.2048. (20421).
I also tested using the suggestion in this thread.
Open Acrobat>help>About Acrobat.
Navigate to Acrobat>Edit>Preferences>Security (Enhanced)>disable "Protected View" and "Enhanced Security"> Click OK
Close and reopen Acrobat and try comparing files again. That failed with the same error.
Original settings were restored.

Hi @Daniel35357515nd14
Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that
Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.
What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.01.20604 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.
Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/43tl9bq and check.
Let us know how it goes.

I am having this same issue. It is happening with multiple different PDFs. I tried downloading them to my desktop instead of a shared network. I ran updates so that I have the latest version of Adobe. But I've had no luck

Same issues. None of the "fixes" have worked and I really need this for my work projects.

Unfortunately, Adobe has not been able to fix this issue for me, the origianl poster.

I spent hours on chat with an Adobe rep and nothing they did fixed the issue. So as of now I am still having problems with it.

This did not work

They repeatedly told me it was an issue with my file, despite me not having any issues with similar files up until a couple months ago.

POSSIBLE WORK AROUND: I'm not sure if everyone is still having this issue or not, but I was today. Drove me crazy. But to get around this, I opened the file that was creating the error, and instead of starting the comparison, I opted to "print - save as pdf" once it saved again, I opened it up and added the second file for comparison and it worked without error.

Wow. This actually worked for me, except I had to Print - Save as PDF for both files that I was trying to compare. Only doing one didn't work.
But this is the first time I've been able to succesfully compare files in months. Thank you.

Thank you so much, I had the same issue and printed both to another PDF and then comparing those is working for me.

I have the same error with a difference that I don't get any error messages. I am using Acrobat Pro version 2024.003.20180 (the latest version) on Windows 10 Home. I created a Word file on my desktop with the only text "Test" in it and another Word file with the only text "Test Test" in it and converted them to PDF using Acrobat. Then, I tried to compare them. The window that would display the results was opened with a waiting pointer icon on it and all my Acrobat files were closed suddenly without displaying any error message. Everything was normal two weeks ago but now I can't compare any files. Could you please create a patch for this bug? It seems that so many people encounter this problem since March.
