When I convert from PDF to excel, the formatting turns out like the statements but all the text is in symbols of varying fonts. Any tips or did I just waste $23.99?

Hi laurenl76524681 ,
Would like to inform you that on exporting the PDF file to excel this is an expected behavior, as PDF is of different structure & excel is having row-column structure.
Also Export PDF helps in converting the file with less complexity .
Would suggest you to try Acrobat Pro DC (use Trial version) to check whether the conversion is taking with out any discrepancy .
Regards,
Yatharth

Hi Ashokr,
As you have mentioned above, you experience an issue when converting Bank statement to Excel.
Could you please try once creating PDF from Adobe PDF maker.
- Open the PDF in the Acrobat application and click on Print icon.
- Select Adobe PDF from the drop down for Printer.
- Click the "Print" tab at the bottom of that window.
- Once done, then try to export the new PDF file to Excel.
Check if that works.
Let us know how it goes.
Regards,
Meenakshi

Conversion to Excel (or Word) frequently depends upon how the PDF file is created. You will have better luck with a PDF created from with Excel using the Acrobat Ribbon than one created from a print to PDF from the same version of Excel.

After spending an entire day trying to figure this out and thinking there was an issue with my system fonts, I found a work around.
I'm on a mac but I imagine the equivalent steps would work on a PC.
I open my bank statement as a pdf and take a screen shot (command+shift+4) of just the sections I want (my Bank of America statement has sections with logos, etc.) and save those to my desktop. I then open each one in Preview or your image viewer and export them as a pdf, giving each one a name like Feb page1, Feb page 2, etc, so I know the correct order they appeared on the statement. I then combine the new pdfs in Acrobat, making sure pages are turned the same way and in the correct order. Then take the new combined file pdf and export it as an excel file...voila, works like a charm and saved so much time.
Best,
George

Hi,.
If the conversion lacks precision with Adobe, you can use an online bank statement converter.
