**disclaimer** A trial for Acrobat DC was installed recently and then uninstalled and the Acrobat X Pro was installed again.

When converting to PDF by right clicking Word document. I am prompted to save location and name.

After a small window opens to show convertion progress. It never goes anywhere and sits there.

If I click cancel window closes.

When I try to open the document, it says it is already open by another user. (file is stored on server, and user is myself)

I see that in the files folder, a temp file is present representing the is open.

I can delete that file, with no results.

I also see that normal.DOTM is the culperate holding the file open.

I attempt to delete this file, but nothing happens. I can cancel any acrobat process but it stays open.

If I reboot machine, I can open the file.

I have done a repair on Acrobat X Pro.

No different outcome.

**A trial for Acrobat DC was installed recently and then uninstalled and the Acrobat X Pro was installed again.

Is there a reason or what should I look into to fix this error?

Hi ansocf,

1- Could you please try changing PDF Maker settings by launching Word>Adobe PDF>Change Conversion Settings>check the box next to "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF"

Click OK>relaunch Acrobat and try again.

2- Also, check if an update is available for Acrobat- launch Acrobat>click Help>Check for updates

To download updates manually, visit here: Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows (scroll down to get to version 10.x.x)

3- If that doesn't work, try running Cleaner tool: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs, restarting the computer, and reinstalling Acrobat X and see if that resolves the issue.

Please confirm the version of Acrobat X Pro you have on the machine.

Which Operating System installed on the machine?

Have you tried converting word to pdf using Adobe PDF tab in MS Word, does that work?

Awaiting your response.

I tried the methods you provided.

I can convert any other way but still can not convert by right clicking the Word document.

It freezes just after it asks where and what to save as.

the files are coming from a central server database.

If there is any further help, it would be appreciated.

User is currently converting documents using other methods in Word application.

Acrobat X Pro 10.1.16

Windows 7 Pro

User has a Acrobat tab in Word to create PDF.

Hi ansocf,

Thanks for trying the steps.

Could you please let us know if you are able to convert an MS excel file by right-clicking?

Have you tried converting a word file which is stored locally on the computer? does that work?

Does this happen with all the files you try to convert?

Hi ansocf,

You may try installing the update for Acrobat and see if that helps as you have mentioned you have version 10.1.16 installed on the computer.

Click Check for Updates under Help. You may also download updates manually from the following link:

Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows  (scroll down the page to get to the version 10.1.x)

Thanks,

Shivam
