Hi Andrea,
In the PDF, what does it say in File > Properties in this section?
The red is in the triangle and the two hexagons. It's a tint of red — maybe in the 10-20% range.
You can't convert from the free Reader to Word unless you subscribe to the PDF pack. You didn't mention it, so I am asking.

Hi Andrea,
Your designer created this in Illustrator, so I did a quick mockup of the triangles in Illustrator. Note that the red triangle has 35% opacity, but the swatch is red.
Saving to Adobe PDF with Illustrator defaults gave me this. Note that both so far are landscape.
I don't subscribe to PDFPack because I have Acrobat Pro so I can't test that part. I exported by going to File > Export to > MS Word > Word Document
In Acrobat Pro, I can then click Settings before doing the conversion. Do you have that option with PDFPack?
If you do, try both Retain Flowing Text and Retain Page Layout to see which works best. Leave the other settings enabled.
In Word, the two shapes became one anchored object. I wondered about that, since Word does not support transparency. Because it made one object out of the two, it worked.
My Word document stayed horizontal. Yours became portrait.
Why does your PDF have all of the printer marks on it? Do you need them?

Just to add the red is on the Adobe Illustrator file showing the edge of the paper to the printer
