Creating a PDF using Adobe PDF Pro with Revit

Community Beginner ,
Feb 01, 2019 Feb 01, 2019

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing issues in using the Adobe PDF printer within Revit.

When I need to start printing layout drawings in Revit, usually I am able to print the first one correctly. Unfortunately after the first one (or sometimes after the second pdf) the printer software got stuck and I am not able to carry on unless I restart completely Revit. I also tried that with several Revit projects files and I experienced the same behavior.

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC Version 19.010.20069.49826 on a Windows 10 SO with both Revit 2018 and 2019 version.

Hope I really get this sorted as I think that pdf looks much better when using the adobe pdf printer in comparison with the microsoft printer for pdf.

Thank you in advance

Regards,

Lorenzo

Hi Meenakshi,

I have been advised to change some settings from Autodesk.

Specifically, in the printer preferences I have been advised to make sure that Prompt for Adobe PDF filename  and Rely on System Fonts options are not selected.

After making these changes, I printed out a couple of sheets without any problem.

Hopefully this time the problem has been finally solved.

Thank you again for your help

Regards,

Lorenzo

Hi Lorenzo,

Sorry for the delay in response.

As you have mentioned above, you are converting the file using the Adobe PDF printer within Revit.

Would you mind sharing the exact steps you do to create PDF?

Did you try to create PDF directly from the application? If not, try once check if you experience similar behavior.

We will be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Hi Meenakshi,

Thanks for your reply.

Actually updated Revit to the latest version and then the Adobe PDF was working fine.

Hopefully that was the issue and it looks like it was within Revit.

Thank you for your help anyway,

Lorenzo

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately after a few times that it was working fine, I experienced again the same issue.

In one case, even if I was printing for first time from that file acrobat got stuck and no pdf was printed out.

Would you please advise me on any other possible setting I should change to make it function?

Thank you,

Lorenzo

Hi Lorenzo,

Would you mind updating the Acrobat application to the latest version released recently?

Check if that resolves the issue.

If the issue persists, please let us know the exact workflow you do.

Do you get any error message or the application just freezes?

Did you try to create PDF directly from Acrobat application?

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Meenakshi
