Creating a template form with a signature field where it can be signed with a finger.

Hi,

I need to create a template form which will be sent to my team to be filled out with employee information and needs to be signed by different clients each time. I am trying to create a PDF that I can save with two signature fields that will allow for two things. I have the pro version and the employees who will be opening and filling the form and getting the signatures will have the reader form.

- Signature 1: To be signed by client with their finger using a tablet. This will be a different person each time, we are not able to save signatures or reuse them.

Signature 2: to be signed by the employee, we could instruct them to save their signatures in their own Adobe Reader so they can input them each time.

I am adding the signature field into the PDF but when I save it and send it to someone with reader it only allows them to type in that field instead of prompting a signature. Requesting the signatures through the e sign route is not ideal as internet is not always garaunteed for employees so I would like to have a saved version that I can download a copy of, and send over to the employee each time.

Thanks!

Hi @Kayla38189007rqvx ,

If you're trying to provide your users with the ability to employ a hand-drawn (or finger drawn) electronic signature, that is an one way of collecting electronic signatures, and it does require Internet when you share the PDF over email, for example.

However, snce you've mentioned " Requesting the signatures through the e sign route is not ideal as internet is not always garaunteed for employees ", what exaclty do you mean when you say that you would like to send over to the employee each time?

How are you sending it over?

Did you mean to say to print the document in  a hard paper copy each time (as needed) and actually collect a wet ink signature on paper?

In any case,  assuming that you and your employees collaborate  physically on the same workspace (or building),  then be aware that e-Sign does provides  an option to collect electronic signatures (such as finger-drawn) in person using a touch device, such as tablets or mobile devices.

In which case, you just bring the tablet or mobile device to your signer and all they have to do is sign the electronic document that is displayed on your touch-screen device.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your response! I responded to your information and questions below in bold.

If you're trying to provide your users with the ability to employ a hand-drawn (or finger drawn) electronic signature, that is an one way of collecting electronic signatures, and it does require Internet when you share the PDF over email, for example.

- So the PDF form would be uploaded to a common site where our employees would download as needed. The form would ideally be housed here and have a permanent location for a signature and would not be emailed to each employee each time we needed to meet with the client.

However, snce you've mentioned " Requesting the signatures through the e sign route is not ideal as internet is not always garaunteed for employees ", what exaclty do you mean when you say that you would like to send over to the employee each time?

- The employee would download from that common doc site when needed. They conduct services in a different state at various client offices for our clients and we are not able to connect to their internet onsite due to security restrictions. Some providers have hotspots and some do not.

How are you sending it over?

- No sending! Planning to store in a common doc area (Ideally). Is there a way to save a form with a permanent signature field so it can be downloaded and signed as needed?

Did you mean to say to print the document in  a hard paper copy each time (as needed) and actually collect a wet ink signature on paper?

- Currently the form is not a fillable PDF and is saved in that common doc site. Employees download as needed, fill out the form by hand and have the client fill out their information by hand and then they both sign the form. They then need to find a scanner (our employees are on the road so often its just a photo) and send it back to us. Each employee has a touchscreen tablet so we would like to shift everything on the tablet using that fillable PDF if possible to streamline the process if that  makes sense! Once the form was completed they would email us that completed form along with other documents that the complete and we would save for our records.

Unfortunately employees are in different states, buildings and offices and conduct one off services for the client. We try to find ways not to rely on internet whenever possible since we are not able to access the internet in those buildings due to security reasons. However this is what we would be looking for! Our employee would bring that tablet onsite with them to that office and have the client sign in person.

Thank you for your help! I hope that info helps!

Hi Kayla38189007rqvx,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the delay in response.

As mentioned, you are adding the signature field in the form. Please ensure that you are adding an e-signature field, not the text field. You may refer to the steps suggested in the following help document on adding a form field to PDF: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/create-form.htmlHowever, this e-signature field will require a digital signature from the signers.

If you need the user to add the signature image and not the digital signature, leave the space blank. Then, suggest the signer use the Fill & Sign tool to add the signature. When the user selects the option to Add a signature, they can type or draw the signature. Refer to the information on filling form in Acrobat/ Reader: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/fill-and-sign.html

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
