Creating a Training File that requires multiple signatures

Hi all,

I have a requirement to create an electronic training file for a 10-day course, based on an existing paper-based process. I have Adobe Acrobat Standard  (64-bit) on a windows PC, but the instructors will be using iPads - currently provided with Adobe Acrobat Reader. All devices are managed by my Company.

For each day, the instructor writes a narrative and signs it. The trainee then reads and signs to accept what has been written. The trainee remains unchanged. However, the instructor may or may not be the same each day. As an example, I could be the instructor for days 1-3, a colleague trains for days 4-9 and then I train the last day. Although the document does not need to be legally binding, a subsequent user - trainee or instructor - should not be able to change what has been previously written and accepted.

At the moment, I have created a button - one per day - that makes the associated narrative (and potential signature fields) readonly. My thought being the instructor writes the narrative and signs; then the trainee reads, accepts and signs; then the trainee clicks to make the narrative field readonly. And so on. The trainees will be using the Instructor iPad to read and sign.

My problem appears to be how to obtain a signature on an iPad. PDF Expert allows button actions and supports the Digital Signature Field (which, of course, Acrobat IOS does not).

I plan to password protect (SECURE) the file; however, if I provide the instructors with PDF Expert, does that also allow them, or anyone else, editing privileges?

(Unfortunately I work odd hours so may not be able to resond immediately.)

If you secure the file and select to only allow filling in form fields and signing then no, they should not be able to do it, but you should test it out in PDF Expert before deployment, of course.

Thank you.

If I use the multiple Digital Signature fields, will I run into a problem with multiple Trainee signatures required (over successive days)?

I've had to change tack as an approval for PDF Expert may take months...
