Just moved to MAC Power Book ... have full Adobe license for Distiller and Acrobat
I occasionally need to create pdf versions of emails. On a PC , I would just select 'save as pdf' - or print and select "pdf as a printer"
On Mac only the installed printer shows ... no oiption for pdf, same under 'save as' - no option to select pdf.
I tried plan B .. save email to documents (it is an eml file) . then from within Acrobat chose 'create pdf' ... but when I select file it says file type not supported ?
Do I need to somehow add Acrobat into MAC as a printer ?

There used to be a PDF printer in Mac, but Apple blocked it years ago. That's not an option.
I don't think Acrobat can read EML files.
I wonder if you are able to use Apple's own Save As PDF from the print dialog?
(Powerbooks were discontinued in 2006. If you are actually running a Powerbook, my answer is wrong, because old systems of that vintage, and old versions of Acrobat of that vintage, do have a PDF printer. I've answered for Macbook/Macbook Pro/Macbook Air running a recent version of macOS. Apple constantly change macOS, deliberately breaking and blocking old apps, so it's always worth mentioning your macOS version).
