We scanned a document from one of our copiers to a PDF file. We are trying to use the Add Text tool to insert some text. When we click in the PDF file where we want to place the text, the insertion point gets placed a few lines above the location where we clicked. The issue is happening in Acrobat Pro 2023.001.20143. An older version of the software does not have this issue. Any suggestions?

We can recreate the issue on every scanned file from multiple copiers that scan to PDF. We have a mix of Windows 11 22H2, Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 10 21H2 in use. The issue occurs consistently on any computer with Acrobat Pro 2023.001.20143. Multiple computers with Acrobat Pro 2022.003.20322 works as it should. I included a screenshot of a PDF that shows the mouse position when I clicked to "add text" and the actual placement of the insertion point after clicking.

Thank you for the details.
We tried reproducing the behaviour at our end, it works fine.
Would you mind sharing the file with us where you are observing this behaviour.
Thanks,

Here is one of the test files. We created it using one of our copiers using the scan to email function. We see the same issue on multiple file created using this same scanning method.

We confirmed this indeed resolves the issue. With that said, we shouldn't have to recognize on all pages to insert text on a single page. Something changed with version 2023.001.20143. Hopefully Adobe comes up with a resolution.

i agree but I spent 1-1/2 hours with adobe this morning and they did not know what to do I just accidentally
found the solution but you are correct about the 2023.001.20143 that it has an issue

Same issue here. However, the above fix did not work for me.

I'm on Adobe Standard DC and am having the same issue of the cursor not landing where I want it. However, I'm not seeing what you're describing in your walk-thru and I wonder if it's because of my version? Are you able to show a screenshot?

We did find another workaround. If you click and draw a box with the cursor, that also positions it in the correct place.
Here are the instructions for the original solution.
1. Click on EDIT PDF
2. Choose INSERT TEXT
3. Choose SETTINGS
4. Check the MAKE ALL PAGES EDITABLE box
While this does seem to help it adds time to OCR the entire document. Not too inconvenient when it's only a couple of pages, but rather inconvenient when it's a larger file.

I am having the same issue. Started two weeks ago. Nothing suggested works.
Acrobat Pro Version 23.001.20174.0
Why I try to add text the cursor lands above where I clicked. If I drag to create a text box it lands higher but not as much. Rather frustrating. Jim

I am having the same issue where it text appears above where I placed the cursor this happening on more then just scanned documents and not on every one. I have been just typing and then moving the text box to where I want the text to be. This started happening shortly after I had an update.

I found a solution that has been working for me this morning.
Once I open the edit PDF tool and click add text the default font is "minion pro". Using this font causes the curor to land about an inch above where I selected on the scanned document. I changed the font and the cusor lands where selected. I have tried a bunch of other fonts and they all seem to be working without the glitch. I then went to edit/preferences/content editing and selected a specific font for "Default font for AddText" instead of "let acrobat choose". Acrobat always chose "minion pro" font in my program. It now working correctly again, for now. Jim

I can verify that this solution does work. It also keeps you from having to recognize the entire document before editing (which happens when using lindap51895 solution).

This solution (Edit>Preferences>Content Editing, then selecting a font in "Default font for add text") worked for me, as well. Thanks, Jim. None of the other solutions mentioned in the above thread worked in my case using Acrobat Pro DC, 2023.003.20201. Hopefully, Adobe will create a fix/update for this soon.

We are encountering this issue in 24.002.20687. The issue probably started earlier, but it was just reported to us recently. We have tried all the workarounds in this forum post. Disabling "snap to grid" did help with the position of the lines we add to a PDF. None of the workarounds have helped address the issue when we add text. Are there any other suggestions that we can try? Thanks.

Hi there
We are sorry to hear that.
Would you mind sharing the version of the OS you are using and a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue occurring?
Also, collect the Adobe CC logs https://adobe.ly/3w6f9cj , Procmon logs (Win Only) https://adobe.ly/3UwNo64 and share them via any cloud storage. Just upload the log file to the cloud and generate the link and share that link with us for further investigation.

We are running Windows 10 22H2. If you truly want to gather logs, etc., then we'll need to setup a time for a remote session.
