Dead links within PDF document

New Here ,
Aug 11, 2023 Aug 11, 2023

I have a large Word file that has a number of bookmarks that I use to jump from topic to topic within the document. The link works perfectly in Word, and when I save the document out as a PDF file the links continue to work when it pops up within my PDF app on my laptop. When I pull the same PDF file up on my iPad or Apple cellphone, however, the links are dead. These use to work on these platforms about 3 months ago, but that has ended.

Any ideas?

The answer lies with your software on the iPad and cellphone that you're using to read the PDF.

If it's not an Adobe-branded mobile Acrobat app, then most likely you're using an app that does not conform to the PDF standard for interactive elements (like hyperlinks, buttons, bookmarks, and form fields).

Download and install a better app for your PDFs on your mobile devices. https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/mobile/acrobat-reader.html

Let us know if this solves the problem.

Thank you. I suspect a download would correct the problem. I don't think I am opening with an Adobe-branded app. But it was working with these same apps a couple months back. Worked for more than a year in fact. These are documents that will be widely distributed and I would like them to work for all users, who will be opening much like I am (I suspect) on their iphone or iPad. I will dig a little deeper. Thank you for the quick reply.
