When I select multiple tags in the tags panel (some are empty, some are not) and I use the "delete empty tags" button, but no tags are deleted. How can I get Adobe Acrobat to delete empty tags again? I am using the old adobe layout if that changes anything.

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!
When you say you select multiple empty tags, are you doing it manually?
You might want to try using the Accessibility checker.
To do so, open the document-> go to the tools panel-> search for "Prepare for Accessibility"-> Check for accessibility-> start checking.
Once done, the checker would automatically flag any/all empty tags available in the document.
You can then select the empty tags (all at once), and remove them.
Hope this helps.

This is new reply on an old issue based on earlier versions of Acrobat Pro.
I searched this in Acrobat Pro DC (new version). This function below is not available anymore in the latest version.
Can you actualize this?
To do so, open the document-> go to the tools panel-> search for "Prepare for Accessibility"-> Check for accessibility-> start checking.
