Disable PDF Web Browser Preferences

So I followed Adobe's instructions on disabling pdf's from opening in Chrome. Settings > Privacy & Security > Site Settings > Additional Content Settings > PDF Documents > and then here is where I chose *Download PDFs*. I also have my settings enabled so that I must choose the download/save location.....
Chrome is auto-downloading/opening pdfs in Acrobat AND on the browser now. How do I stop this?

I use Firefox and don't have that problem.
Acrobat is designated as my default PDF viewer from my operating system's file manager (Win File Explorer or Mac Finder). Regardless of where I store PDFs, they always open in Acrobat.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. My system is set up to open any PDF in Acrobat and is doing a fine job doing so. It is the browser, Chrome.

Chrome is made by Google.

Nancy,
None of your comments have been helpful, and to be honest, seem demeaning.
This is a discussion post, I am aware that Adobe does not own Chrome....? I am looking to find others who may have had the same problem and have found a solution.

Additionally, the article you posted explains the exact steps I took, as mentioned in the first post.
