Can anyone tell me why Adobe goes through a "Content Preparation Progress" every time I open a document? And how can I turn that feature off?  I've read through everything I can find (where do I find a manual, by the way??), but nothing has helped.

We'll need more information to help troubleshoot.  First, you mentioned  Adobe as your problematic application.  Since Adobe is the software company, you'll need to tell us which application you're using.  Is it Acrobat Pro?  Adobe Reader?

Give us as many particulars as you can - we'll collectively do our best to help.

My best,

Dave

This is done to prepare the document for "assistive technology" - e.g. a screen reader for a visually impaired user. If you don't need this, you can turn it off in Acrobat's preferences. Go to Preferences>Accessibility and turn Enable Assistive technology off.
