Documents can't be overwritten by signature

New Here ,
Jan 17, 2025 Jan 17, 2025

My user is trying to save a file on a network folder after inputting their signature. They are getting a dialogue message stating " The document could not be saved. The file may be ready-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder.

Permissions have been changed to full control

View pane has been changed to details

Security and enhance security was unchecked.

Do you have any idea as to why users can't overwrite the file?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hello,

I hope you're doing well. Apologies for the delayed response and trouble.

Does this issue occur with all PDFs or just a specific one? If the file is shared or stored on a shared drive and opened by different users on different systems, it may trigger the warning. Another possible cause is the Preview Pane in File Explorer. If the file is being previewed while changes are being saved, Windows may struggle to update the preview, causing the error.

If the issue is with a specific file, could you share the file, the complete workflow, and a screen recording for further investigation?

Also, please make sure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed (24.005.2039x Planned update, Jan 23, 2025). Check for pending updates by going to Menu > Help > Check for Updates, then install any available updates, restart the app and your computer, and try again.

For more details, see: Acrobat Release Notes.

Let me know if this helps!

Thanks,
Anand Sri
