Edit/Highlighter will not work

Until recently, I was using an earlier version of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and had no issues, however, after an update, I no longer have the ability to edit or highlight anything. I have checked for updates and Adobe says I do not have any. It shows the following: continuous version: 2019.010.20091. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Please help, I am getting more than frustrated at the notion of paying for something that doesn't work. Thanks!

I believe there is a setting that overwrites your existing preferences when you re-install, but the default is to not overwrite. So your preferences might be the problem. How did you check for updates? (Help> Check for updates) My version is .20098.
