If I want to simply convert an already scanned image PDF into a searchable and copy and paste-able PDF, which is better, the Edit PDF tool or the Scan and OCR (Recognize Text) Tool.

Hi Teitelba,

Six of one or half dozen of the other.

In other words, they are equially capable. The difference for you is that latter would be faster/more efficient. But the quality is the same becuase they use the same engine.

Using Adobe Acrobat Pro Desktop on Mac.
Hi. My goal is to take PDF files that were not OCR'd, make them searchable with OCR, and also for me to accurately copy text from them to various other documents (primarily Word). I go to Tools/Scan and OCR/Recognize Text. It then offers a a window with RECOGNIZE TEXT-GENERAL SETTINGS:  OUTPUT: searchable image; searchable image (exact); and editable text and images. And also  DOWNSAMPLE TO with several DPI settings. I really don't understand the differences between the various OUTPUT setting and the relative advantages and disadvantages of the DOWNSAMPLE TO settings.  See attached screenshot. I'd be grateful for some help from the community. Many thanks. Josh
