Embedded index and slow search in current Acrobat, but when I use Acrobat XI Standard it's fast

I have been using an ancient version of Acrobat XI  Standard for years and never had any problems with it. I needed to add more than just a reader to my laptop, so I've subscribed to Adobe and downloaded the desktop version of the new acrobat.

I have a few very large files with 25,000+ pages and the documents are over 7 GB in size. I have embedded indexes in them. When I search from my computer with XI Standard or my laptop with XI Reader the search is instantaneous; however, when I try to use the Acrobat Pro that I downloaded it seems to not want to use the index and go through every page looking for the text.

I've searched the forums and have seen several of the suggestions, such as enabling fast search and I even tried increasing the cache size, but nothing has worked. I appreciate anyones help on this.

I've got the exact same problem. I have embedded indexes in several PDF documents greater than 5 GB; some even 20GB+. In Adobe XI it's lightning fast, but when I open in the current Adobe Desktop pro it pulls up the window in the bottom right and seems to want to scan through the thousands of pages resulting in a long wait time.

I have purged the cache and increase the cache size to 5 GB to no avail. Help is appreciated.
