'Enable new Acrobat' Option Missing (Same account - Different Computer)

Community Beginner ,
Aug 01, 2023 Aug 01, 2023

So for some reason the 'Enable new Acrobat' option is not available on my other PC even though it's the same exact account.. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat and the option is still not there.

I know it's only available for select accounts right now, but why would my account have the option on one PC but not the other?

Below are screenshots of Acrobat on both PCs, but same exact account.

Hi Shawn5C9D,

Thank you for reaching out.

Please try reinstalling the application using the following steps and from the link provided below:
-Remove the application and run the cleaner tool (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html).
-Reboot the machine
-Install Adobe Acrobat from the following page: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html.

Also, confirm if you disabled the new version anytime on this machine or if the option was never available.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I have the exact same question.  I noticed that Adobe support has not responded to your latest comment.  Anyone else have any suggestions on this?

I had to uninstall Adobe Acrobat DC 2023.006.320 64-bit and then I used the Cleaner Tool due to an error that recently started popping up. I then installed the same version.

When I opened Acrobat Reader DC the first time I was surprised to see the new interface since I never had it before.

Over the next few days I switched back and forth between the new and the classic interfaces trying to make up my mind as to which I like.

Yesterday I switched back to Classic and then I discovered that I can no longer switch to the new interface. The menu item on the View menu disappeared.

What happened?

OOPS in my previous post... My Acrobat Reader is v2023.006.20320. I wish these forums had a way to edit posts.

In your File menu we can see "Disable New Acrobat".

You must first "Disable the new Acrobat" before you can "Enable the new Acrobat".

@JR Boulay Since there was no post here in over a month, I suppose that you are referring to my message.

Let me try to make it clearer, in case it wasn't: I am familiar with the switching between the New and the Classic interfaces. As I said, I have been switching back and forth for several days. The last time I switched from the New interface to the Classic, after the switch, the "Enable new Acrobat" menu item on the "View" menu disappeared. It is no longer there, as it previously was.

OK.
In this case it may be because you added a plugin, a JavaScript extension, or imported some Actions or Redacts.
As this is not supported in New Acrobat, it prevents it from displaying the new UI.

I had a similar issue, and have been struggling to know why I don't see "Enable new Acrobat" in my Adobe Acrobat Pro updated version on Mac, I even had the chance to speak with three of the Acrobat development team without getting a solution!

What I did just now and had the option visible to me finally…

  1. I Uninstalled Acrobat Pro
  2. Uninstalled Adobe Reader
  3. Used the Acrobat Cleaner Tool to clear the full registry

Although I listed three steps above, I strongly doubt the culprit is Adobe Reader. So for those of you who had this same problem. Try removing Adobe Reader from your machines - if you have it installed alongside Acrobat Pro. Try the other two steps if this step alone doesn't solve it.
