Enable touchscreen for signatures

Adobe XI pro on Micrsoft Surface.

I produce documents for signature by my customers

While the touch screen works with a document on the screen my problem comes when I need a document signed.

Under "Fill & Sign Tools" I click "place signature" which produces the appropiate dialogue box.

I select "draw my signature" however when a sigature is drawn nothing appears in the box.

So somehow the touchscreen function of the Surface  is not being enabled.

Is this a "known bug" or have I missed something

That's 7 year out of date, have you tried with a recent version?
