I receive message "There was an error opening this document. There was a problem reading this document (109)." when trying to open a .pdf with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version 2020.012.20043. The .pdf opens fine with Foxit, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Ghostview and Nitro. I have tried opening it from the file system using the Adobe File/Open menu options.
Does Adobe Reader have a bug

Just becasue other PDF viewers open this file, that does not mean that there is nothing wrong with the PDF file. With error messages that quote a number, you can get more information by holding down the Ctrl key when you close the message box. Usually when Acrobat or the free Reader claim that there is a problem, that is indeed the case. Complain to whoever created the PDF file and let them know to use a known good PDF generator.

Thanks Karl. Holding the Ctrl key yields "Object label badly formatted." The pdf was created with SSRS. Is there a way to find out exacly witch object label is bad?

Unfortunately not without being able to open the file. Acrobat Pro has a Preflight tool that can report minor syntax problems, but if the file does not open at all, you need to analyze the internal structure with a tool that's independent of Acrobat. That does requrie that you are very familiar with the PDF specification.
