Adobe Creative Cloud Order Confirmation was received and payment charged. However, the installation is not happening. Getting error P 206 while my net connectivity is good. The helpline [phone number deleted by moderator.] is not connecting through.
In short, exasperated and feeling cheated.

Hi,
The installation has nothing to do with the subscription and having an install error means you have problems with permissions , firewall , antivirus ...
Please check the permissions of the "temp" folder:
C: \ Users \ <Username> \ AppData \ Local \ Temp
If that does not help, try the direct link of the CC desktop tool:

Please give more information on your environment, like OS and version, computer configuration (memory, disk space etc) and the steps you took to download and install the software. It is also of interest to know if you are behind a corporate firewall or proxy.
P206 is a network problem, so I would look into that direction first. See here for more information: Troubleshoot Adobe Creative Cloud download and install issues

I am an individual, use Windows 8, use a Dell XPS 12. My knowledge of
computers is really passing only.
The only reason I need this software is that I convert the word document/
PPT into PDF and rarely need it to convert a PDF into a word document.
I was on Acrobat Pro DC for the last two years. Then in the name of the
renewal I was pushed into going for an upgrade which I did not need. Once I
downloaded, my troubles began.

Hi All,
As of version 2018.011.20063 (as far as I am aware) our users are getting notifications "Adobe Acrobat Reader Updater has not been able to check for updates recently. ..." and "An error occurred. Please check for updates again later. Error: 206"
I have tried reinstalling and updating manually but the error remains. (also in version 2019.008.20071)
What am I missing here?
If anyone has a solution please let me know.

if it's acrobat 9 or newer:
confirm that you can connect to the secure adobe servers by reading, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html
do you see both logos?
if you can and still see a connection error, white list the adobe network endpoints, https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/kb/network-endpoints.html

how about stop requiring people to disable a safety measure designed to protect against dishonest internet predators? If my firewall is seeing your software as a potential threat, that says something about your company's software designers. I'm cancelling my subscription, effective immediately. If I see any charges on my bank statement, they will be disputed. I'm not disabling security features on my computer, to pay a monthly subscription, on a program that used to be local purchase, but no longer is because Adobe has gotten greedy, like everyone else. I don't give a rats a$$ about the damn cloud storage, I just need to be able to enter text in fillable .pdf files.

I started experiencing the error: "Unable to reach Adobe servers" a few days ago and have been trying to fix it. I have contacted my organisation’s IT who have tried to fix it without success.
My internet connection is strong enough, and I have had to switch off my firewall, still it Adobe servers could not be reached. I have tried all the solutions listed on the Adobe web pages, but nothing works.
