Hello,
Very often, my previously saved PDF documents display the following error message when opened: "Error opening because the file type is not supported or corrupted..." However, they are all documents saved as PDF files. I don't know what to do to avoid this problem in the future and ensure my PDF products open.
Thank you for your help.

Bonjour,

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear about the issue you’re experiencing.
Based on your description, it appears that the files may be getting corrupted — but to recommend the right fix, it’s important to first understand how this corruption is occurring. A few common causes include:
Saving files directly to a cloud drive or mapped network location – delays in syncing can cause incomplete or corrupted files.
Saving files through third-party applications that may not preserve full PDF structure.
Fonts not being embedded properly during PDF creation, which can result in missing or unreadable content.
To help narrow down the issue, please try the following:
Open the file in a browser like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. These viewers don’t perform deep validation like Acrobat, so if they can open the file, it suggests the corruption may be structural but not fatal.
Save the PDF locally, rather than on a cloud or network location, and see if that resolves the issue.
When creating or exporting the PDF, ensure that all fonts are embedded properly and that the application used supports full PDF standards.
Let us know if the issue persists after trying the above, and feel free to share your Acrobat version, OS, and how the file was created — we’d be happy to assist further.
