"If it ain't broke, don't fix it," comes to mind for this feature request. In the old Adobe Acrobat, it was possible to start typing anywhere in a document to add text or start typing while text is highlighted to replace it.
As of the writing of this post, February 2024, the new Adobe Acrobat omits this functionality, creating something of an intolerable user experience for professional writers. This may have been a technical oversight on part of the development team, however, strongly recommend that this functionality be added back into the program.
