FileOpen plugin and Adobe Acrobat 2020 for mac problem

Community Beginner ,

I own Acrobat 2020 for MAC.  I have been trying to install the plugin for FileOpen so I can open an encrypted file.

The FileOpen plugin will not install into Adobe Acrobat 2020.  I have tried to install on Mac OS 10.4.6, 10.16 and neither will work.

Anybody else having this same problem??????

Contact FileOpen support or support for the protected file.

FileOpen support page says it is only for licensed FileOpen owners.  I am trying to use a FileOpen encrypted file and therefore cannot contact FileOpen support.  I have emailed them using the simple info@fileopen.com email but have not heard back yet.  I do not have high hopes.

That makes sense, so in that case you should pursue it with whoever is offering the protected PDF. You can make sure to download the latest client, https://plugin.fileopen.com/all.aspx

Ok, what do the suppliers of the file say? It is up to them to liaise with FileOpen.

Hi guys,

I am facing the same problem when trying to open a FileOpen encrypted file on my MacbookPro with Acrobat Pro DC.

I have tried to check in the Acrobat's Plugins folder (/Applications/Adobe Acrobat DC/Adobe Acrobat.app/Contents/Plugins) if the plugin was installed but unfortunately it wasn't eventhough the installer says that it was succesfully installed.

Then I run the uninstaller and I noticed a "Reader not found" line (screen shot attached) in the reader folder.

It seems there is still a problem with FileOpen installer.

It is really frustrating to pay for a document and can't open it.

Does anyone has any update for this issue ?

Due to changes in Apple security, plug-ins are no longer installed inside the application bundle, but instead are under /Library/Application Support.

That's good to know, but how does that help here?  Are you saying that Acrobat Reader and FileOpen are permanently broken?
