Fill & Sign causing Adobe Acrobat Pro to crash

Community Beginner ,
Jul 22, 2024 Jul 22, 2024

My coworker cannot use the "fill & sign" function on acrobat currently. When she clicks on it, the computer freezes for a moment before bringing up the crash window. I did go into her settings and uncheck "suggest words or phrases..." but to no avail. She's unistalled and reinstalled as well. I have been googling this for a while now and can't seem to find a fix!

This was suggested in another earlier post about this same issue.

This solution worked for me and the other users with the same crash after selecting "Fill & Sign"

Delete the three files listed below:
acrobat_fss_signature_initials
acrobat_fss_signature_initialsi
acrobat_fss_signature_initialsk

The files are located in the following path:

C:\users\"Name"\appdata\roaming\adobe\acrobat\dc\security

%appdata%\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\Security\acrobat_fss_signature_initials

%appdata%\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\Security\acrobat_fss_signature_initialsi

%appdata%\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\Security\acrobat_fss_signature_initialsk
Note: appdata is a hidden directory

I'm facing the exact same problem since yesterday... Seems like a bad update from Adobe or something?

Is this still an ongoing issue? Fill & sign works perfectly on my computer but still does not on my coworkers. It has been 8 days.

Hi default32120475ilrtpg,

Please try updating the application to the latest version available. In Acrobat, go to Help > Check for updates. Check if that resolves the issue.

You may also refer to the information on the latest update on the following help page: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/release-note/release-notes-acrobat-reader.html.

Let us know if the issue still occurs or is resolved after updating it.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

@Nick389198671lph Thanks for sharing the workaround.

We encourage installing the latest version first. If not fixed by the update., then try using the workaround.

This did not work for me on a new imac. I deleted the files, empty the trash, and the files came back. Please advise

Hi yvonne_7518,

Sorry about the trouble caused.

As the application crashes, I'd like you to please try the troubleshooting steps suggested in the following help document: Troubleshoot Adobe Acrobat crashes.

If that does not help, try reinstalling the application using the following steps:
-Remove the application and run the cleaner tool (https://adobe.ly/4lLdfSR).
-Clear the trash folder and reboot the machine
-Install Adobe Acrobat from the following page: https://adobe.ly/3H3HcOP;

Check if you are still experiencing the same behavior.

We might require the logs for further investigation if the issue still occurs.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
