Fillable forms were working and now they are not.

In my company, we have several fillable forms that have been working for a long time.  They have NOT been changed or updated.  All of the users, download the form and try to fill them out in Adobe Acrobat Reader.  NOT a browser.

However, all of the fields that are supposed to be fillable are flat.  I have checked the version of Acrobat Reader and it is the current version on all of the computers.  Our IT departments answer is that the users will all need the Pro version of Acrobat.  We have over 250 users of these forms.  Our company can't afford Pro licenses for that many people.

This is what Adobe told me as well.  I didn't have any available updates, but I went into the app on my computer, then modify, restore, and then restarted my computer when that was done.  The forms still don't look fillable (i.e., no blue boxes); however, when you click on the text to change/add, you can update it.

Amazing!  Thank you! And, you deserve the credit for giving me the correct information first.  I misunderstood the email from Adobe Community as from Adobe, but it was you.  Thank you for your help with this - it was driving me nuts!

I feel your issue is resolved. In case the issue still exists ,  To assist us in resolving the issue, could you please provide a snapshot or recording of the problem, along with a sample PDF where it is occurring, and your current Acrobat version?

We recommend following these steps, as they have resolved similar issues after the latest update:

  1. Reboot your machine and relaunch Acrobat.
  2. Wait a few moments, then attempt to fill out the forms again.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to assisting you further.

I have had this issue on multiple computers. The closed work around I have done is to insert text boxes, this is tedious and does not result in a professional looking document.

2) Ensure you are on latest version of product
