Find Icon missing in quick tools bar

Guest

Yesterday I had the Find Icon in my quick tools bar. Today it's missing.

I can still access the find function through the edit menu or ctrl-F and the Find icon is checked in the show edit tools but it is missing from my tool bar. If I select "show all edit tools' all of the others show up but again, not the Find icon.

I checked the version and it is the most recent. I did not notice an update or make any changes myself. Others in my office using the same Acrobat Reader DC still have the icon.

Any suggestions on how to recover the missing icon?

Hey,

Greetings! Sorry to hear that you are facing issues with the Find Tool.

It would be great if you could help us with a few queries that will help us in further investigating the bug:

  • What is the version of Acrobat Reader DC that you are using?
  • Could you please confirm if you're using the functionality in Internet Explorer or in SDI mode of Acrobat/Reader app?
  • Could you please share a screenshot of the Reader while you're facing this issue?

For checking if you're using the application (Adobe Acrobat Reader) in SDI mode.

  1. Go Preferences by clicking on Edit -> Preferences...
  2. Go to the 'General' section and tell us if the 'Open documents as new tabs in the same window...' is marked checked or not?

For getting the version of application (Adobe Acrobat Reader)

  1. Click on 'Help' menu in application.
  2. Click on 'About Adobe Acrobat Reader DC…'

Regards

Acrobat DC Desktop Team

Hey,

Thanks for the info. We have forwarded the issue to our engineering teams and we will update you once the issue will get fixed in our upcoming releases.

We have a workaround for this issue. Please mark check the option mentioned in my previous reply and then use the Reader for consuming your documents. Let me know if the above-mentioned workaround doesn't work for you.  🙂

Regards

Adobe Acrobat DC and Reader DC official update (2019.021.20049) containing the fix for this issue is now available. This update will be automatically pushed to all existing installations of Acrobat and Reader. If you want, you may also manually trigger the update early by opening the application and going to Help > Check for Updates.

More information about this release is here: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/release-note/release-notes-acrobat-reader.html

Please try it out and let us know your feedback!

Thanks for your patience and support!

That seems to have done the trick. The missing icon is back.

Thank you for your help, it is very much appreciated.
