Futura font missing in Acrobat

Community Beginner ,
Oct 01, 2019 Oct 01, 2019

I created a business card file in Illustrator, using Futura (medium). I then removed all type from the file, and opened the file in Acrobat, in order to make the lines of text editable from the pdf, for my client. Pretty straightforward process, except Futura is not showing in the font dropdown menu in Acrobat. Help!

No, I haven't. I'm not sure how to do that. Can you explain how that is done?

Hi,

For reference purpose please read throuh these suggestions first:

https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-fonts-mac-os-x.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-font-problems-windows.html

Then refer to these links:

https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/using/activate-fonts-desktop.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/using/managing-fonts.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/kb/fonts-not-added-to-menu.html

And my short answer, please remember that some fonts have also copyrights and in order to use them there are ar licensed and paid for in order to use tem.

You can alwas try to find a free version of a font, like here for example: <URL redacted by forum administrator>

(if using windows) Once you download install in your C:\Windows\Fonts directory

in your Adobe Acrobat path you can also try and install the fonts here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Data\Fonts

The URL above pointing to “free” versions of “futura” was redacted given that the website cited hosts many pirated fonts. Many of the “futura” fonts at that URL are in fact Bitstream fonts that require a license to use. Be very careful with any fonts obtained from “free fonts” websites especially when they claim to provide “free” versions of Adobe, Monotype, Linotype, ITC, Bitstream, etc. fonts.  Forum Administrator.
