Having trouble reducing file size

I am trying to reduce the file size of a PDF that is about 43,000 KB. I used both the save as other - > reduce file option and Optimize file options. However, it doubles up the file size for some reason. The pdf has a lat of stacked up images. Can anyone please help address this issue?

How many pages? 

How many images?

What program was the source created in?

Is the document text in a font other than english?

Are your images cropped versions of the larger file?

The document has 105 pages. It has about 30 images and most of the document was created using InDesign but about 11 pages of the document which are mostly stacked up images were created using bluebeam software.
