Save the file instead of opening it in the browser, and then open it using Adobe Reader directly.

I have the exact same problem with opening some forms.  Reading through some of the old post, the suggestion is same as yours - which is save the file and open with Adobe Reader.  Which is what I have done and I am still getting same message.  Sample file is available if needed.
