Help Restore Original PDF

I have PDF file that is edited and I need to restore it to the original document.  Is that possible? What program do I need to get?

PDF is not a very good format for editing. If the file has not been "optimized" or "saved as reduced size", it could be possible for a person to remove the incremental updates and work back to a prior version using a text editor and knowledge of the PDF structure.

Also if the editing was done using the redaction tool, it will not be possible to restore the removed or altered information.
