Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I work in offset printing and our sales team are currently estimating the ink coverage per individual document to be used. I have read that there is a way that Acrobat will tell you the ink coverage % for each separation using the output preview window so that we can be more specific for larger print runs, but this asks for the printer to be used in order to advise the ink coverage. As this file will be sent through a RIP and printing plates created for offset print, I can't put a specific printer in the drop down box, I just want to know what percentage of the page each spot colour takes up, if that makes sense and is possible?

PitStop might be able to do that, but it was expensive, last time I checked:

An Acrobat preflight can give you total ink coverage info, but not individual ink coverage, AFAIK. You can make a feature request, I think it would be a useful tool:

Here is a link to a related Acrobat discussion:

Thanks so much for your response.... It looks like what I'm trying to achieve may not be as straightforward as I would have hoped 🙂

Apolgies, I may have used the incorrect terminology, I actually mean the ink area rather than the coverage, which I can see from delving seems to be more for density - I need to know how much of the document is covered by, for example, the blue spot colour, red spot colour, etc.
